Duender build
« on: July 11, 2026, 11:40:02 AM »
I was looking at making my home brew 3D printer better by adding linear rails to replace the bars which have served until now.
I was thinking a needed a cheap and cheerful one to print any parts I might need and noticed someone not too far away selling a couple of creality cr10's all in bits and pieces for a reasonable price.

That of course has changed the situation so now I am going to build a complete replacement machine while keeping mine current one intact to print any parts. So far I have managed to arrange the extrusions in such a way that I only need to cut a few bits.
I will need to make or purchase a few corner brackets to keep everything square and rigid but the plan is to keep the front top free of any beams.
I have ended up with an opening of 460mm square so I may increase the bed size at some point in the future from its current 300X300.
Turns out this life c**p is just one big distraction from death but a good one. For the love of god dont give yourself time to think.

Frame is pretty much figured out and it is going to be a triple Z like my current one but I would like a double hot end on this one.
Rather than go to the expense of linear rails for the Z's I am going with the cr10 wheels, this may change later but I can't see any reason it wont be acceptable.
