That's what I did for the valve rod but the bolts are headed so you have no option but to turn them down.Stew

Have a look at "Bronzing Rods" as a source of material instead of brass, it's cheaper and far stronger when making the smaller size diameters screws, if you have to turn them. Threading with a die is no problem either and where brass will try and break of, if you are making a long thread, then bronze rods have the strength and do not break anywhere near as easily as what brass breaks.Try using it for all your small bolts/screws and you'll be amazed at how strong it is and easy to use.regards greenie
