I picked my car up from the local garage on Friday after having a leaking power steering hose replaced, The bill was enough to put anyone in a bad mood, I mean £200 to change a rubber hose...come on, something is very wrong here.
To make matters, or me, even worse the clutch cable went driving it back home.....
And the garage is only across the road. I barely got the car back.
So now I have my car on my drive and can't move it, my drive is quite steep downhill so no rolling or pushing the car back to the garage.
I was having a quick private chat with Ralph about it and he said to me, "make a new part, that's what we have machines for"
Quite right he was too, this is what I did.
The broken piece, it's upside down here. The bit missing hooks over the clutch pedal.
Now I wasn't looking for finesse here, just a bodge till a new cable could be fitted. This is what I made up, a bent flat bar, a 4" nail, SS welding wire and a plastic insert.
And here we are fitted
It worked, in fact it works so well I might leave it as is and forget about having a new cable
