Title: Tip for storing rolls of emery tape
Post by: dawesy on February 27, 2014, 06:03:24 AM
I'm sure like most of you I use the 1" emery tape for general cleaning and finishing.
Tried keeping it in the box but it soon disintegrated leaving the tape looking like this

Not good.
A simple tip is use a cable tie. It stops it unraveling and you simply nip it up as the roll goes down.

Some of you may  already do this but thought I'd share :)

I found (to my cost) that you need to keep it really dry too! I had half a roll of really good 1" tape that went sticky and useless after it got (very) damp.

I know what you mean though, I have a few 2" rolls that have a mind of their own ...  :D

That's a good price. Think I paid nearly that for one roll ( that said think mine are 50mtr rolls.

That is a useful idea.  I had been doing that on coils of wire and cable (even a coiled saw blade) but hadn't extended it to my emery cloth.  Good idea.
