Had to make a taper attachment for the mini lathe first so I could make tapers

Hi mfletch, nice to see you opening your photo account early in proceedings.
Nice little live centre you've made there and a lovely surface finish on the taper.
I've recently made a MT3 live centre based on the Matosa design and added a few improvements of my own.
I used a piece of driveshaft from an old Albion lorry axle for the taper shank,2x 6203 2RS bearings and case hardened mild steel for the revolving head.
The rotating head was machined to 60deg profile then finish machined after case hardening using a cubic boron nitride tip which produces a mirror like finish.
A pipe centre is next to make.....OZ

Thanks I was thinking of a pipe centre would be nice to see some pictures of yours when you've started making it

I'll make sure to post the photos up when I make, shouldn't be to far in the future.
I need to set up my facility to post some pics and hope to get that done this weekend sometime...OZ.

Hi fletch
I have one of those, and have found it invaluable for years, at the time they were only available for woodwork, so the point is soft, keep meaning to harden it. Must dig out the " Casenit "
Well Done David
