Nice to see there still are some places around that keep the old traditions alive.

Enjoyable video, I guess that being an historic mill unprotected belts are accepted? OH&S (Occupational health and safety) here in OZ would be in a fit. Hearing protection missing too. BUT that is how it was way back then. Thanks for posting.

Hi
A great video, really interesting. I love to see old mills working, especially steam powered.

                                                                                             Cheers David

It's old news but good news! OK, I've seen it before, but that doesn't mean that I'm not pleased to see it again!

Regards, Matthew

It's perfect, perfect because the waste from their processing provides the energy for the process! I don't know if they generate their own electricity as well, but they should. In the UK in the cotton and woollen mills, the electrification program after the second world war(which was supposed to save the industry) actually destroyed it when the ministry of power put up the power prices. The only survivors were the ones who stuck to their steam engines, which provided the mills with lighting and motive power, and could buy their coal wherever they wanted. Steam engines are very efficient, unfortunately steam boilers are not, but if your heat source is cheap, or even better, free, who cares. Unfortunately the Uk government is negotiating the building of the UK's next generation of power stations with EDF (Electricite De France), so if the UK ever did become competetive in manufacturing again, they would simply put up the power costs! Note to manufacturers, if you want to be competetive, do like these people, and provide your own energy source! Rant over!!
