Gentlemen
I have been given a Tyzack woodworking joiner without blades, trying to find replacements is proving difficult, I have contacted Tyzack who still trade in London but as of yet no reply, if they cant help I was thinking 0f Ground Flat Stock and making my own.
Any other suggestions please.

Find you local blade sharpener and they will be able to sort you out. What length are the blades and what cross section?

Andrew
There are 2 blades which are 6" wide and approx 3/16-1/4 thick and flat in profile they are clamped into a round cutter block.

About 35 years ago, before I knew anything about machining, I had some 7" joiner blades sharpened by an acquaintance who was just starting up a professional machine shop next door to my boat shop. He also suggested he could make a second pair of blades from tool steel so I said okay to that, too. Well it wasn't a bargain -- the new blades cost $50 -- which at that time was serious money for me, and more than it would have cost to order from the factory. Live and learn! But anyway, the point of this was, they worked.

Reason I ask is that I have some planer blades that are too short for my 16" planer / thicknesser, and there is no reason they couldn't be cut down. However they are a meatier cross section than yours

Sorry for the delay in reply, Vt thanks for that I will look into the machine shop route and see what I can come up with locally, Andrew, the only blade shop that I know of went out of business a few months ago but the search goes on, I don't know the age of the planer but all the fastenings are Whitworth, I have not had a reply from Tyzack so I think a phone call will be in order next week.
Thanks John
