Since i'm a "little" interested in tools i have an automatic search on the Norwegian equivalent of Craigslist going which everyday sends me all new tools published.
Usually it's a lot of not so nice things, or things which is way to big for me. Most of the time i can exhale and delete the whole ting.
Then last week, up pops a very nice looking Emco Maximat V10P metal lathe. I was thinking to get a "proper" metal lathe floorstandig big one, but considering my new house and the fact i have to establish my workshop in a basement rather than a dedicated building, and the basement is a little hard to get to, this one would've been perfect for me. So i thought about it for a couple of days. It was still there so i called the seller and asked. He still had it. Two bids on it, but he still hadn't sold it. I asked if i could come look at it and we agreed upon yesterday. Yesterday i went and lo and behold; i have a new metal lathe :-D
:worthless:
Here we are:

To further add to the deal, when i decided i would buy it and we had agreed upon a price, the seller asked if i was interested in a vise. I asked what kind and he promptly produced said vise which turned out to be an old Heuer. Just as i was going to make him and offer on it, he said i was welcome to it free and gratis! Result!
Now i'm a very happy camper and if anyone has any parts or accessories for this and would like to sell them i would be very happy if you let me know!

There's a lot to be said for tools that can be picked up and carried by three or four lads when working out of "limited" workshop facilities. At 120 kilos and with power cross feed and screwcutting gearbox and headstock gearbox that lathe fits the bill nicely.
Congrats on the purchase!

Thanks Jari!
Indeed there's a lot to be said about that. Unfortunate as the new circumstances is with regards to the workshop, i think this is something i can be quite happy with :-)
With a bit of luck i will get most of the money for this back from selling my chinese minilathe too!
I cleaned up the case it came with yesterday and took out all the materials which was dropped in there. there was a few extra's although i really hope someone somewhere will be selling some things which i need, like more toolholders. As a funny sidenote, i had a toolholder at home which i was given probably 15 years ago as a gift for the tool in it, and i have been dragging it around ever since. Turned out to be an original Emco :-D
If anyone has any tips or tricks or small tidbits of information about this lathe, i'm all ears!

So i've heard. This one is sold through the Norwegian importer back in the day, i will contact them and see if they have any parts or accessories, but i fear the price is steep...
