Bought a 9 inch South Bend S lathe for ten quid , was striped down for moving in 1978 and never put back together , its lost a few bits along the way , feet change gears and cover , cleaned off lots of dried oil today to reveal very little ware on the bed and lead screw , the worst was the tail stock front .

Got it striped today there was very little paint on it and that was thin , degreased everything and removed the paint , a couple of repairs to the back gear and that's about it everything is tight ,

carnt be bad will be nice once up and runing
-
Well got it back together after painting with Ford light blue left over from a 105E , loads more to do yet lay shaft and motor mount is next .
-
Can't really see it except in small bits because the photo is so large. Can you reduce it to a comfortable viewing size -- say 800 pixels wide?
Looks like it will be a good one!
-
I've shrunk it to about 25% of the original.
That's the best £10's worth I've seen in a long time! Congrats on a great find.

See what £10, & I assume a fair amount of elbow grease plus some left over paint can do? Knew it would look great. Yea :nrocks:
Congrats on great buy, Great clean up.
