Title: Hello from Frome, UK
Post by: bluebiker47 on March 15, 2013, 06:16:20 PM
Hi there all
Have a bit of a home workshop, old Drummond round bed lathe and Clarke micro lathe.

I did an engineering apprenticeship in the 1970's and mis making things.

I ride old and new motorcycles so opportunities to re-make things   :)

Am I reliving my youth lol

Hi should have said I have a clarke micro mill not lathe :)

I was know as the "Keyway King" when I has an apprentice as all I ever seemed to do... I worked at Hygate Gears in Bath, UK - long gone I'm afraid.

This is my lathe circa 1910 but good enough for what I need.

This is my old BSA bantam with a few bits I have re-manufactured on it.

Thanks for the photo of the lathe -- extra cool! Never saw that belt arrangement before either, running over a roller and then down under and around the other side.

Is there a gib in a slot in the cylindrical ways -- and if there is, is it triangular or square?

Also is that a 3 jaw chuck held by a 4 jaw chuck? Or is it a bell chuck mounted on a faceplate that is doing the holding?
