How do you clean the surface of a diamond grit grinding wheel.
Can anyone enlighten me?

Bernard,
Brake & clutch cleaner, is good for that type of cleaning job.
This is the one I use. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/6-X-BRAKE-AND-CLUTCH-CLEANER-400ML-SPRAY-CAN-AUTOCARE-/400162617646?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5d2b8cf92e
I wouldn't be without a can, or two, in the workshop. :thumbup:

Good stuff, but way cheaper in a 5 Litre can from a motor factors near you!
N.B. motor factor != "Halfrauds"

Hmmm...... Thanks Dave! :thumbup:
I'd forgotten. I used to obtain tricho in those quantities from work, when I did!
These days I use much smaller quantities, on much smaller widgets. Usually before loctiting.
The aerosol, wet blast is a useful feature too......

To clean a diamond or CBN wheel it is best to use a cleaning stick.
Here is what I am talking about.
Diamnon/CBN cleaning sticks (http://www.use-enco.com/CGI/INPDFF?PMPAGE=236&PARTPG=INLMK3&PMITEM=399-6788)
After cleaning your wheel will preform as it did when it was new.

I was a CNC toolmaker. We used diamond wheels over 95% of the time. Just like with sandpaper, the wheel is made up of grit and the material that holds it together. Your wheel is full of crud from your grinding and the diamond bits have either been knocked off or gooped up. Using the sticks (white Aluminum Oxide) on the wheels removes a layer of the wheel material and exposes new diamond. Push the stick lightly straight into the cutting face of the wheel. When the wheel starts eating your stick faster, it's clean. You can do this hundreds of times before the wheel is used up.
