Title: Sheet material that can be used as a release for making silicone gaskets for tub
Post by: PTsideshow on November 09, 2011, 09:10:31 AM
I'm can't remember which or where I read a thread on using plastic wrap, waxed paper, or the plastic sheet as a release material for making silicone gaskets where one side is attached to the say lid and the other is free from the rim of the container?  Oil is not an option, as the area is to thin in cross section.

I thought it was waxed paper. But alas, I can't remember either.

Hi Glen

Eric's right - it was wax paper (http://www.homemodelenginemachinist.com/index.php?topic=15711.msg163109#msg163109).

Waxed paper should work, but silicone release liner will work better.  Just about any industrial adhesives/sealants supplier should be able to come through with that for you.  BTW, Alumilite Corporation (Kalamazoo, MI) has all sorts of goodies in the silicone/rubber molding side of things.
