Title: BA threads and spanners
Post by: AndyB on August 07, 2011, 02:15:36 PM
Hi all,

This has got me stumped!

Why is a BA thread size different to the spanner size?
I have been tapping 5BA threads with a 5BA tap and inserting 5BA studs but doing up the 5BA nuts with a 6BA spanner :bang:
I have got 2 sets of BA spanners made by different people (one King Dick) and they are the same!

Bound to be something simple

Yep small nuts.

For a more scale appearance you can by BA fisings in whats known as "one size smaller" where the hex is from the next size down the scale so 5BA thread has 6BA Hex, 2 BA thread has 3BA hex etc.

Funny...

That's just what the wife says...

Thanks Jason. The nut size does look in proportion to the thread size
