I have only recently discovered this site, but have been collecting old iron for a few years now. I am by trade an aircraft maintenance engineer, but have no formal training in the machining of metal, so consider everything as a learning experience. I have a Colchester Master 2500 lathe to which I have just added a chinese DRO- took me a while to figure out how I was going to fit it, particularly the scale for the cross slide. I also have a Repco tool and cutter grinder, a reasonably nice Chinese Mill, a small Douglas shaper (not yet used ) and a very nice Heska vertical band saw (used all the time). I am currently in the process of making a Quorn tool and cutter Grinder ( slowly) along with a few other projects like building a four seat fiberglass aircraft ( Velocity Canard) ( long term project)
