Here is hoping I did not get ripped off.

Starrett model 811 and a set of what appear to be high speed chucking reamers straight flute 1/16th inch through 1/2 inch by 64ths. I paid 300 USD for the lot. I think thats about 187 BP. Should I be o.k. with the purchase or should I hang my head in shame?

It's more than I would have paid but then again I'm tight :) As long as you're happy with the deal that's all that matters.

Well B-H, here's one UK source of HSS Chucking Reamers metric though ...
EDIT Oops , silly burger, imp. sizes are embedded ...

Don't forget to multiply each price by 1.2 to get the VAT inclusive retail price... :(
Work it out for yourself.
If they are new/as new, undamaged and of a reputable make, I would say by our standards you are a winner ..

I don't think you got ripped off. I'm sure a Starette indicator like that is would cost more if you bought it from the manufacturere. They are good tools.
As far as the reamers are concerned if they are made in the US and you have a full set I'd say $300 for both was a good price.
Good tools make for better and less frustrating work.

Thank you gents. Can't find a manufactures mark on the reamers anywhere. I also must admit an odd fondness for things "Starrett" even before I purchased my lathe. A coal tar processing facility closed it's doors a few years back and I came away with a set of big inside and outside calipers, a No. 25-441 dial indicator, and TWO No. 657 magnetic bases WITH the flex-o-post attachments. All for free. . Not including a lot of laboratory pyrex glassware (I should look into using some of it in my builds, FINALLY a possible use).
If anyone needs some pyrex stuff let me know and I will see if I have what you need.

You did well.
A quality tool like that is a pleasure to use and will last for years on end.
Enjoy it in good health!
