Title: Milling Machines. Swap....
Post by: Stilldrillin on January 06, 2011, 08:05:17 AM
I have had a Chester Conquest mill for almost 2 years now.....

http://www.chesteruk.net/store/conquest_mill.htm

My Pal wants it.

I fancy a Chester Champion V16.......

http://www.chesteruk.net/store/champion16_variable_speed_mill.htm

No problems between us, over the swap.

My replacement machine must have the "same" footprint and weight as the Conquest.

Has anyone used/ owned a V16? Is there any reason why I shouldn't have one?

Got the Warco equivalent here being converted to CNC, nice machine, well made and very sturdy for that they are.

Hi Dave

What sort of comment ??

Looks like my Warco WM16. Except the table is 700mm on mine, not 500mm.

WM16 table may be a bit wider, can't remember for sure.

Which probably explains why mine is heavier. 90Kg IIRC.

Thought about one of those from Chester, but I did not like where they stick the 'wind up and down' handle.

Works OK. Knows more about milling than I do.

Dave.

I was hoping for someone to say they'd got one. "Just watch out for......"

I see the taper is MT2, no R8 option. The T slots are smaller too. (So, new arbors and T nuts/ studding will have to be bought).

Guess there's no problem really......
