Wow. I am impressed with the response. Thanks for all the great greetings.
Eric is right. I am primarily an MC guy. I bought the machines cuz I got introduced into a group of guys here in Salt Lake City that were long-time professional/hobbyist machinists that have a wealth of knowledge that I fear is being lost in the age of CNC shops. The purchases seemed to be the easiest way to 'prove' I was worthy of hanging with them and learning their bag of tricks.
I really just like making stuff. My career has led me to more or less talk for a living and not actually make anything so this represents a way for me to produce something that can be touched, felt, used.
Rotary converter showed up yesterday. Stuck in the office today so tomorrow is the day to actually make the machines go. I can't wait. Have a growing list of projects that I want to move forward.
I will post pics of the bike in its current state and the machines soon.

I have a South Bend Lathe as well. I just figured out today that the original motor (at least i think it is the original) is a single phase 1 HP. I hope that will be ok. Probably for the minor stuff i will do.

I usually get a bunch of crap about 'choppers' and 'new school' and other various put downs from purists but I had a picture in my head of a bike when i started and this is now it. I only had to go through a pile of money and a pile of tubing to get it done the way i wanted. I am damn proud of this thing, even in the state it is in.
Thanks for all the warm welcomes. i will post more when it is warmer than 15 F in the shop and i can be in there for a while.

I think you've posted your pics "direct"......
You need a Photobucket account, or similar.

Nice looking tools!
The chops not bad either. I like seeing chops with other engines, such as the XS650. The XS650 is such a versatile engine. The guys over at ChopperWeb (http://chopperweb.net/) are pretty cool about non American V-twin engined chops.
