Title: Sighting at a farm
Post by: Brass_Machine on October 03, 2010, 09:19:05 PM
So this weekend was the Yankee Steam Up (http://www.newsm.org/Museum/dates.html) in Rhode Island. Unfortunately, I had to miss it this year.

However, all is not gloomy. I went with my wife and son to a local living history farm. Basically it is a living working farm museum. LINK (http://www.howellfarm.org/). They had a wheat celebration today. Went through the whole stages of wheat from planting to harvesting to cooking. Lot's of fun. Lots of animals. Tractor ride etc...

BUT! While we were there, I turn the corner and see this:

A running live traction engine being used in processing wheat! 1st video is short as my batteries had just died on the video camera...

My son (2.5 yrs) went nuts! He loves seeing the steam trains (we have a few running steam lines by us). He loved the traction engine!  :headbang:

Thanks for that Eric!

I remember the harvest time traction engine visits to the local farms, when I was a boy......
