I found this in Modeltec magazine. It is now defunct, has been since 2002. I was looking for an oscillator engine and came across this piece on Elmer. I thought that the memebership would be interested in the person who has given so much pleasure to the beginners who have built or are going to build a steam/air powerded engine. It's a little bit of history about this well known engine designer/builder. Enjoy.

Thanks for posting the write up of Elmer Verberg. It is always nice to know a bit of the history of the men that designed some of the engines that we love to build and talk about.  :D :D

Having looked over every one of his plans, I can say that the guy had a true knack for making things simple.  That's an art in itself.

If it weren't for him, how many of us would be here now?

Elmer was something else, that is for sure.

Just as a side note.

After Modeltech went bankrupt and ripped a lot of people off. Somebody bought all the back issues and the rights to the name and property with the plans to start a web based magazine. Charging subscriptions to access something like I guess what ME has set up. He was coming to NAMES shows and selling the back issues but hadn't the last two years.

George the guy that started Modeltech and went done with it. Is still selling model plans on disk on Flea bay under the name Camelback Press. They are the plans he was selling in the magazine. Basically PDF's of the build articles in the magazine.
