It won't be the fuse or the light would not have come on, can't comment on the X1, don't have one but the X3 has to be switch on THEN forward or reverse selected as the safety interlock needs power.

On the X3 if you select forward or reverse, then switch on it doesn't start.

Paul, I don't know much about the machine either, but think it may not start unless the speed control has first been to returned to zero. If there are any pivoted guards which can be turned aside for access, they may operate switches so you can't start the motor until they are back in position.

I did look at the picture of the Axminster mill but it doesn't show any guards, as Andy has said some like the X3 have a stupid three penny switch wired in thru the Estop but it looks like the X1 doesn't have these 'refinements'.

Hi Guys, thanks for your help, I have changed the fuse although the one in is not blown, the starting procedure seems to be make sure the rotary speed control pot is clicked in the 0 position select forward or reverse then turn up the speed control pot.Much head scratching going on.

Not sure what's what, with yours......

Is the emergency stop unlocked?

My X2 has a toggle switch, which has to be pushed to the right for a second or so. Then moved to left, before activating the speed control knob.

Hope this helps......

There's no quick answer to that one Jason!
