Title: Hi from the Southwest Desert of Tucso Arizona
Post by: Mr.Chips on August 08, 2010, 09:41:27 PM
Just found your site today and I realized right away I needed to join.

I retired in 2003 after 30 years with the 3M company.  I worked for them in Camarillo CA, Irvine CA and Austin Texas.  Prior to that I worked for Timken Roller Bearing in Columbus Ohio for 15 years.

Hobbies, Interested in cars since I was 15, had one motorcycle at age 19 a 1953 AJS,  enjoy woodworking and my latest projects has been to build two CNC machines.  The first was a fixed gantry with a 12" x 25" work area, and my latest is a movable gantry with a 49" x 36" work area.  I'll try and attach pictures if I can figure out how, LOL.

Hi there Mr Chips. That name sounds familiar. Maybe it was on CNC Routers forum as I used to watch in over there quite a bit. Anyway, I don't remember hearing any thing bad so that's good. That looks like 2 fairly decent routers that you have put together. What ever your interests, there is a good chance that you will find someone here with a similar interest as there are a lot of different talents in the members of the board. If you have any questions just ask as there is always someone around to answer or at least give an opinion.  :D :D

Cheers

Thanks Don,

I was fairly active on the CNCZone forum and lately on Joe's CNC 4x4 Hybrid, but I didn't build one of his machines.  My latest is a collection of parts that I named "Make Do No. 2" because of all the recycled parts, a very "green" machine.  The only new parts are the Gecko 251's, CandCNC controller parts and the stepper motors.

I followed along real close on Joe's 2000 machine I think it was called. Then He did the 4x4 and took it private so you had to buy the plans to get into his form. That is when I quit watching his builds. I still follow a few other ones from time to time though.  :D :D
