Well i cannot jusify (at least not to the other half anyway) buying a mill just yet so a few weeks back i bought the milling slide from chester as it specifically said fits the conquest. I only opened it to take a quick look when it arrived but have decided to try and fit it today for a quick milling job.
Low and behold it doesnt seem to fit,Has anyone has this problem before??? or am i missing something from the whole idea lol.
Ive removed the compound slide thinking it bolts on using the same 2 holes in the saddle but the holes are a differant distance apart and there is a pip that the compound slide revolves around that stops the milling slide sitting flat :bang: :bang: :bang:

I don't have a conquest... how about some pictures so I can visualize the issue?

if i remember you have to drill |& tap the cross slide to get it to fit
use the search on chesters forum or ring them up monday and ask

Some pics uploading now.
The holes in the slide is 22.5mm apart and the holes in the saddle are 33mm off of the top of my head.
The slide is advertised as specifically fitting the conquest...If you have to drill out the saddle mounts it seems a bit silly to me. The fact that your buying a milling slide obviosly means you have no milling abilities to drill the holes needed!!!!!!!!

If i were to drill the hole in the mount(all be it with a hand drill) I would still need to drill a clearance hole in the bottom of the slide for clearance for the lug....Just the small problem of it being hardend!

Thanks colin
Looks like a will be returning the slide to chronos.
Why on earth does no-one selling the slides say you need to be able to make it fit!

To drill the required part i would need the milling slide attatched to hold it. The required part is what holds the milling slide!
Im off to bed in a minute david ill pm you in the morning with an idea or 2 lol.
What would i do without you lol
