This first vid' is a little long, but well worth watching. (before you look at the second )
Now that's some nice workmanship eh??
Check out one of them running!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :bugeye: (make sure you watch to the end)
It's stunning what you find on youtube while browsing!

This fella has some impressive skills, and a good mind to go with them. What a good show.
I don't know much about electrical windings and such, but it looked like a very nice job on that part,
not to mention the machining, (and it looks like he knows how to grind a tool bit, too). That motor is a horse!
Oh, and I sure like his lathe. Gives me hope. : )
Thanks for the videos, Ralph!

There was a series in either ME or MEW, about 18-24 months ago to make an Outrunner Motor IIRC.
Sorry, cannot remember which one.

I thought some people might appreciate the work involved, Glad you liked them Dean.
Dave, I wasn't thinking of making one just yet..... Although it'll definitely find it's way onto my tuit list :)
I was also looking at the maker of the last video of the little motor, he has some very nice bits and bobs posted not least this....
Pretty cool I think :jaw:

The mag was MEW and the motor article was by John Rutter....
I've made a few of my own, but with the advent of cnc and cheap labour, the r/c market has been flooded with motors at a price which makes it cheaper to buy than make...
Still a good excercise in machining tho'.. :dremel:
Mebbe I'll post a few of mine to show you...

John,
If we did this kinda stuff for to save money, some of us would be broke!

OK, maybe not "uber powerful" but homemade motors none the less .... perhaps just lacking torque!
