Title: Bandsaw Blades

Could someone recommend where to buy bandsaw blades from as they seem to be a bit elusive from the usual sources?

I've tried several carbon steel blades which is about all you'll find on Ebay but they don't last for more than 5min.
What's your recommendations?

Try J&L they do several of the Lenox bi-metal blades, best to use their "virtual catalogue" you want to start at page 523

I'm having a look now, but the pages are incredibly slow to load, it that me or them  :ddb:

From what I've seen the prices are not too bad ... I'll keep looking  :thumbup:

Dragon blades always had a good reputation but I never used them myself and they've now gone out of business. However one of the guys that worked there has set up by himself and is supposed to be supplying quality blades, you can contact him at sales@tuffsaws.com

If you do get some from there, let us know how you got on

Hmm...not in my book....I got 10 blades from them  5 for metal and 5 for wood...

The metal ones didnt last and snapped on the welded joint, the wood ones were too long for my b/saw...

I emailed and no wonder I didnt get a reply if they are out of business.....

Check out these guys http://www.eps-services.co.uk/ (http://www.eps-services.co.uk/), I have bought blades from them, they are friendly and don't seem to mind small orders for home shop machines.

I've had a look at JLS/MSC and there seems to be two choices in the size for my saw

The one I'm leaning towards is on page 524
Lenox Diemaster 2, an M42 blade suitable for the usual plus tool steels and SS.

The other is on P527
Simonds Diebandr Plus, it seems much the same as above.


I see the are variteeth, so I'm thinking 10/14 unless someone says otherwise? I suppose I'd better order something with larger teeth at the same time.

Guess if all else fails you could either make your own or pop into the saw doctor like I did and get some made up.  My third party ones are tons better that the OEM one for my saw.

I went the Diemaster and bought two in different tooth sizes.

First cut and you know something is different ... now just to see how long it lasts.  :ddb:

Starrett are expensive, but well worth it.  Will cut through stuff with nary a complaint that my hacksaw would barely scratch.  We get large rolls of it at work (over $1k), and I get to buy them at cost by the foot.

I've gotten one made from one that was "used", and it's held up better than the new ones from Harbor Frieght which are made in the US.
