Hi,
My name is Steve and I'm a mod-a-holic...
I'm a computer programmer and general fiddler and will try most things at least once... I've about 40 years of fiddling with electronics behind me (definitely amateur), 30 years of programming (mainly low level, asm; C; C++), 10 years of model engineering and then a whole host of other hobbies, amateur radio, microscopy, astronomy, motorcycling, flying, woodworking, CNC and robotics, cycling and running plus a number of other things I've forgotten about until the passion takes me again...
I've made a number of small engines (external combustion), started a clock and a small loco plus a (large) number of other unfinished workshop projects. I've built an electronic rotary table controller (details here: http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=47007 (http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=47007) ) and am part way through a 4 axis generic controller which will hopefully control my shiny new CNC milling machine (when I actually buy one).
I live in Warrington in the U.K.
Have fun!
Steve.

Hello and Welcome Steve.
A wonderful bunch of folk on this forum, so helpful.
Your description of yourself is so similar to myself I thought is was me, but it cant be because I live in South Devon.
Mad Modders is such a perfect description for the members, because if one wants to alter, mend, make, or even muck up, some one on this forum will help.
I just love the lot of them. :D
Trevor
PS I have not been here long but it feels like forever.
