Title: Cutting gears using a dividing head
Post by: bogstandard on November 03, 2009, 11:04:50 AM
A few people are asking questions about gear cutting and dividing heads.

I found this vid showing how a chap did it, and it explains the operation very well.

Thanks for that John,

Seems like I may have found a use for the catch plate and dog that fits my RT now ...  :)

What I need to study up on is diametrical pitch and blank diameters ....  :coffee:

Bog's

Nice find. He forgot to mention how to line up the cutter with the blank on the mill, but other than that nice vid the guy made. Simple and straight forward.

Thanks Bogs, that is a great video but my eyeballs glazed over as soon as he started talking in those strange archaic? measurement terms.
