Nice one Rob.
I like the idea of stress relieving. That's a good idea, especially after welding. Would have never thought of that.
The part does look like a casting though.
This going to be an interesting thread, one I'm going to watch closely. I want to eventually build one for a lathe I'm modifing.
Keep up the great work.

Lookin' real good Rob.
Ask me how I know about stress relieving! :bang:
Found out about that a long time ago. It's nice to have somebody come up and renew some old procedures. It also helps the new guy that wonders why his BMS warped after he milled it.

Rob 2 qeustions.
1 Is it not worth incorporating a small feedscrew into the design ( on the end that has the scale) if you use a feedscrew with very fine thread it would allow you to make measured adjustments???????
2 Any way my little ARC welder can weld ALi????

Come now Rob, we want to know how did you make those markings
-
That's some mighty fine work there Rob  very clean and crisp lines, and I too would like to know how you made those lines

Hi Rob
Smashing work
I just have to repeat the ?:- how did you put those lines in ]
Have fun
Stew

As Rob has not been back yet to answer I've been thinking about how I might have made the lines.
Maybe mount the piece to the RT and scribe the lines on the mill ...
-
Where's the punch the air smilie :)
Thanks for showing Rob

Nice to have it confirmed

rob are you making a show piece or are you going to actually us this masterpiece :jaw:
i wish i could make parts that looked that good for my models.
chuck

You are making a wonderful job of this Rob.
I am real envious of your heat treating and welding facilities, it really helps when you are doing larger jobs such as this. I really do miss my mini gas welding set, but space dictated years ago that it couldn't be used any more.
Your experience is really showing thru.
