Hi guys
just joined the group and i am a member of HMEM as well and thought it was time i introduced my self my name is Paul i live in the little market town of Gainsborough Lincolnshire central England.I have been involved with machining and maintenence off and on for about 40 years i did my training with Marshall sons & co here in Gainsborough all you steam fans out there may have heard of Marshall traction engines and steam engines sadly the works does not exist no more its site is now a shopping centre.I have been hankering for a lathe for years then i saw a lathe for sale at the right price the other month so i went out and bought it to go with the other machinery. i have allways been interested in things electrical and mechanical cheers Paul

Welcome aboard the cube Paul :borg:
I've heard of Marshals, sad that a lot of great companies have gone to the wall, and shopping malls built on the site. Is steam you interest, or do you just like messing with machines in general, anyway this is a great site for catching :proj: but what ever you do don't forget the pics.
Have fun

Hi All
"Thanks for the welcome" i have been reading through the posts on here and find them very interesting! as for answering stews question i mess about with anything mechanical or electrical . I have a couple of interesting elderly machines here that i have saved from the scrapman and i will describe them with the obligatory pictures in due course.the reason i have an interest in model engineering is that now i have got a lathe i am going to build a steam engine to see if i still have the skills learnt in the past " different working with smaller machines and components" also obtaining recently a lathe will help with making bits for antennas etc for my other hobby Ham Radio (callsign in my signature). so it remains to see just what i can make and what contribution i can make to this forum ,enough waffling from me
Cheers Paul
