Today I needed to make some new idler wheels for my 1X42" belt sander. I needed to center stock in my three-jaw that was too short to index off the back of the chuck. Over to my round-to-it file to pull the picture of Frank Ford’s stock centering roller. :D
A 4-1/2" piece of 1/2" square CRS, two SHCS (button head would have looked better) :bang: and two bearings (cannibalized from a printer I disassembled). :dremel:

Drill and tap a couple of holes and assemble.

Round-up a spare tool holder.

Tool in position to use. I put this piece of stock in the chuck just to show the use of the tool.

It can also be used on long stock.

Most of you probably have one of these already in your tool box but I haven't seen a post on one. Besides I'm an old noob so humor me.

'Just a couple' ..... you're no help .. I got 40 odd R6KK .. dims as posted..
Here's me, trying to get shot of some of the enormous collection of junk acquired over the years, an' you want just 2
Would'nt like to be generous and make it 3, as an act of kindness to a old geezer ?? :D
I've got some smaller I think, will have a look, if I live that long ...

I must make one of those, thanks for reminding me....
I imagine that they would become a well used tool..... :dremel:

Thanks for the comments guys. I find it to be a very useful little tool.
An aside, commercial printers that have outlived their useful life can usually be obtained from business that just want them removed. They have an abundance of bearings, shafts and other odds and ends that are useful to HMs. :dremel:

That is a nice piece
Ilike that u made it to work in both the right and left side for facing and for bar work.
My TODO list just got longer as well.

Clever little gadget that, I saw a guy using one on You Tube, yours looks to be a smarter job than his. Not got around to making one yet myself.
