Post by: sbwhart on July 23, 2009, 09:57:57 AM
Well Chaps

That's it I've retired after 45 years, I just melted away from the office this afternoon, told the Guys I didn't want any fuss and thats what I got, having a bit of a get together tomorrow down the pub so I guess I'll get a bit emotional

 :( ,

Then its down the old workshop being my own boss:- well with the wife's kind permision.

 :D :D :D :D :D

Just watch those engines come off the assembly line.

Sounds heaven to far to even think about for me -but one day

Hope you have some time for the things you want to do, my grandfather used to say he could never understand where he got the time to go to work he was so busy after retirement - He was into wood- furnature etc.

Hope u enjoy it.

Stew

Glad to see that the last day has came and went.  :ddb: :ddb: :ddb:

Now the big decision will be, what do I do first :smart: Now when you get up in the morning and grab your  :coffee: you can plan your day your way.

I am already retired and can't understand where I got the time to go to work before retirement. Now that I'm retired I sometimes think I should go back to work just to get a rest.

Enjoy it Stew. These are the years you have been working and waiting for.  :D :D :D

Cheers

Don

Wow thanks chaps your good wishes are overwhelming.

My wife is off work for the 6 week summer school holidays, so its going to be a bit of a practice run for when she retires next year, if we survive that without murdering each other all should be well for the future.

Thanks again for your good wishes

Stew

Best wishes from me on your retirement. I think it's great. You'll find it a bit strange at first. I finished on May 31 2002.

I was at a loss for ages afterwards ... must have been about 20 minutes  ....   :D :D :D

Quite a decent score.

So, being retired for a whole day already, how many projects do you have to show us?

So your hint dropping worked then Stew.

There will be no stopping you now that you don't have to use superglue to hold your cutters in the mill.

I have already said my best wishes offline, and what I said about being only a short walk away still stands. After a while, your own shop can feel a bit like a prison, and you will need a change.

Just think, you can work all week and not have to get a wash or shave to go to work. Just scrape it all off when weekend comes around. When you stand up and the chair is still stuck to your a**e, time for a cleanup.

By way of explanation:-

email to friend "this self centering 4 jaw chuck from arc euro trade would make a good retirement present for some one".

email to another friend " this set of ER 32 collets from arc euro trade would make a good retirement present for some one".

I'd have been well brassed off if I'd got a bloody clock.

A Well pleased

Good hoard on the gift front too  :)

Hell I'd have been happy with the clock..... Stripped an old carrage clock the other week..... Loads of different thickness brass plate  :headbang:

Enjoy it Stew..... I'm sure you and your laydee wife will get along just fine......?  :wack:
