I have just taken delivery of my new depth gauge.
I have been after one for a while, but they were either too expensive or like the tread depth gauge ones on fleabay, have a plastic probe.
I saw this one on the site I purchase my DRO bits from and duly ordered it.

It seems to be a very robust unit, and I hope it lasts as well as my other one has done.

This is the new with the old. The old one being rather limited because of the size of the probe, but it will still have a use for deeper and larger measurements.

That's good that they're robust. I had Chinese calipers that had the same digital unit on the front and they were awful.

Mike,
Almost all the digiverns I have knocking about the shop have this generic read head on them, and as luck would have it, none have given me any trouble.
Maybe you are unlucky and got a Friday afternoon one.
