Just finished machining an ER32 collet chuck for my 7x lathe. I'm quite pleased with the results.

Quite impressive Chuck.....
I take it you enjoyed making it?
Some of the projects I've undertaken started out ok, but I got bored and ended up not really enjoying doing it.....
What's next then? :dremel:

Thanks, John. Yes, I did enjoy making it. I had purchased a collet set, John Stevenson's ER32 collet blocks, a R8 chuck for the mill and a MT3 chuck for the lathe, but liked the shorter profile of the flange mounted chuck.
It involved the first serious MIG welding I've done. The weld isn't pretty, but it works. That's why I think I'll use a filler and paint it.
I learned a lot, and had to do come creative machining and setups to accomplish the job. I also learned a lot about getting better finishes, and tool grinding.
Next project, I'm not sure. I need to get going with my foundry as I have several tools and engines I want to make from aluminum castings.
