Title: Southern Hemisphere Slacker
Post by: Bryan on February 02, 2011, 03:50:48 AM
I already 'outed' myself in the tools forum, so I guess I should do it properly. I'm Bryan from South Australia. I'm in my 40s and kind of between careers. I live in a quiet country town and I'm lucky enough to have a big shed with 3 phase power.

My lathe is the poor Chinese cousin to the Taiwanese Lantaine family, including Trion's Slager and Toolman's Honden, among others. It's nominally a 10 x 24 inch, 1hp machine. It was neglected, abused and crashed before I got it, so has ongoing issues. But it's got me back into machining and I'm loving it.

I recently bought a TOS shaper which is in bits for repairs and paint. I'm looking forward to getting that running, especially since I don't have a mill. Among other things I want to use the shaper to make gears for my lathe.

That's probably more than enough info for now. There seems to be a steady stream of new arrivals, so I guess I'm just one more. You guys who keep reading all these boring intros and replying so nicely must be saints or something!

Welcome to the forum.  As Kenneth said.  That would be a great video or even a documentation log.  ironman (Ray)

Hiya Bryan

Welcome to the collective :borg:

How about a restore log on your shaper? That would be pretty cool. Quite a few of us are shaper fans.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I'll take shaper questions in my thread under Tools.
