Hi Lads
I thought i would add another project to my list of on going projects :) , Jessie an 040 saddle tank loco designed by Ken Swan.
The drawing is full size , loco is just short of 3ft in length.
I best get cracking and finish the CNC conversion .

Oy, less of the Nottingham, it's Long Eaton..........
Had to knock off and do a conversion on another machine as it was needed for a job, will be picking it up shortly, one more CNC conversion and get rid of this beast this week to the scrapyard.

Only snag is it weighs about 3 tonnes and I have to move 5 machines to get it out.

Hi
John
If you are scrapping it can i have the oil can and machine light please
John
-
You are welcome to the light, keeping the oil can though.
Sounds horrible scrapping it but truth is it's worth more for scrap than resale. When I announced I was scrapping it on another forum I got an email saying don't scrap it and if I could get it to Wales the guy would give me £1,000 for it.
That's the whole idea not to have tyre kickers all over it. Any idea how much a Hiab truck is to Wales and back ?
It's worth about £400 - £450 scrap and I keep the chucks, faceplate, steadies, which with a bit of luck will fetch £150 ?
The big Dickson toolpost with 12 holders is worth £250 at least and all I have to do is get it outside, they will collect.
-
It seems a real shame
But in the real world it is £150 per ton no matter how good it was
(it will be recycled in to a axminster lathe) :bugeye: :bugeye: :bugeye: :bugeye:
John
-
Do you want the light or were you just joking, not that great but you are welcome to it.
-
Just joking mate
Like i say it is a crying shame to scrap a lathe like that but in the real world
Regards
John
-
There must be at least another £200 worth of scrap in the tray.

Pity it's got to go, but needs must.

I will keep an eye on this
When will the first chips fall?
John? Was there an explosion near that lathe?

Rob,
Looking forward to seeing some pics from your loco build.
Are you going to do your own patterns & castings for it?
Good to see mention of your CNC project - it'll be nice to see it finished.
How long will it be before you're side-tracked into making more superb clamping fixtures to help with the loco build!
