I checked through this How-To section of the forum, and was surprised that I couldn't find a thread devoted to sharpening drill bits. A recent thread by a user here said he'd been having problems with his Drill Doctor. Others suggested he learn to sharpen by hand. Well, he'd need instruction for that, so here you go.....This video (2 parts) does a good job of showing how to sharpen drill bits by hand on a bench grinder, and how to check your results.

Excellent. Thanks for posting this. One of the things I struggle with. Interesting point about pilot hole selection too.

Hi there, all,
It occurs to me that this thread should be 'pinned' to the top of the section.
