Sunday just past was fathers day in the UK, not as I give much importance to it, it just a way to boost card sales.
No card arrived from our son Alistair not suprising realy as he knows how a feal about fathers day and he has a very demanding job so the fact that he'd forgotten didn't bother me, any way he phoned and asked as it arrived, as what arrived ?, your fathers day present, no it hasn't what is it ?, you'll have to wait and see,

Very nice, I notice that one on the left end is something 2009 Peat ale, Is that peat as in peat bog type ale? No matter you will have to let us known how it tastes.
It is always nice when the present, is something that one can enjoy, rather then just useful!

This isfrom the label " Bruichladdich 2009 Peat Ale is brewed using heavily peated, malted barley wort. Isaly Ales has added Cluster, Amarillo and bobek hops to produce a beer with a bitterness which compliments the peaty character of the malt and spice, fuity aroma with a smokey peaty finish that has the character of heavily peated Malt Whiskey and the best tradition of Real Ale all in one bottle" wow this add man is a on top of his trade.
But to answer your question yes it is like peat bog, what the people have done for centuries in the North of Scotland and Island is cut the peat into brick size chuncks and lay it out to dry off, it forms a very fiberous brick that gives out a lot of heat when it burns, the smoke it gives off has a very distinctive smell (I like it) which is passed onto the barley when it heated during the malting process.
I'll give it a go tonight when I know I don't have to drive.

BTW... my youngest is named Allistaire... Not a very common name here in the states. Love it when the english nurse at his doctors office calls his name... She pronounces it very well!

Alistair I understand has its roots as a name in Scotland, it has many different spellings some spell it with a D Alisdair I don't know if its got a Galic form, our daughter name is Kirstin which is the Galic form of the name Katherin.
Either way there real nice names :thumbup:

Nice prezzy Stew!
It was my first farthers day this Sunday - my daughter is 7months. Got a B&Dtool box and a screwdriver set - was very impressed, I think perhaps there should be two or more of these each year!
