Title: Worden grinder
Post by: John Rudd on January 19, 2021, 07:21:17 AM
Here's a photo of some of the parts of my Worden I've been building.......the troublesome plate that needed some drawing help...

On the left the end mill sharpening jig, the right, the slit saw jig.

I deviated slightly from the plans.....as you do.

On the slit saw jig, it calls for the hole in the main block to be 11/32" to match the bush on the main body.
I decided to make a bush slightly smaller, so all I had to do was unscrew the end mill block with its threaded bush and screw on the slit saw assy.

After completion, I though about what I'd done....not necessarily a good idea....wear on the feed screw?

One of the biggest issues with the rain is the bricks my garage is built from...absorb water like a sponge, despite being treated with Thompsons Water Stop ( or whatever it is..)

So making  it colder and damp, more than usual...

Hi Norman,
How far on are you with your Worden?
I finished mine and added the feed mechanism and the jig for slit saw sharpening. Mrs bought me them for Christmas to keep me busy....

Does the Acute tool cater for end/slot mills?

Still raining here in Backworth...☔️☔️☔️

Keep safe and dry...

Hi John

Progress is slow- Old age( now 90) and eye infirmary :hammer:

The Acute CAN do end mills as well as lathe tools but haven't around to them yet. Thhere is a nice video from Eccentric.
You'l be interested.  I bought a CBN pr diamond wheel from Axminstser Tools to do them and carbides.
FYI I  bought both a 80 and 100 grit white Aloxite 6" wheels from them. Not cheap but the lathe tools seem brilliant.
Sadly I have macular degeneration and the Left eye is quite useless  and I have jabs in the Right one. So it is is splot vision.
Despite lockdown since February, I', still  buoyant  and wish you all healt, wealth and happiness in the New Year.

I've recently gone 'bonkers' and bought a 2nd hand Potts vertical mill attachment complete with lots of division's, a No2 MT Myford spindle and it's all with a 9 hole divion plate :headbang:
And sush, I'm spending the Children's Inheritance with a almost new Myford Super 7B with a PXF.

So I wish you all well---- WELL?

Norman:

You can't take it with you so you might as well enjoy it while you're here.  Besides, it's been said that he who dies with the most toys wins.  So have a blast while you can.

Hey Fellas-- but I'm only 90 and a touch :poke:

Squeaking of Potts tools,  I also have both the drilling and grindig spindles.

Yonks ago I actually gave an earlier version of the Milling attachment to a mate who is 94.

He's still got a Myford ML7-R( with Box) and a  10mm Pultra lathe with almost all the goodies.

Laughingly, I also have a Mk1 Quorn -- but seriously I would hate it to  lie on a shelf with someone drooling over it :ddb:

Best Wishes to all
