Hello all
Several years ago (1979) I built my first small engine designed by Elmer Verburg. I t was an experience which taught me a lot ( So I thought) about machining and it was a runner. Later commenced building a V-4 oscillating cylinder engine by Jan Gunnersen and when I had a bad result following some silver soldering, I put the project away.
After having looked at the "Home Model engine Machinist website" recently, my interest in machining was once again revitalised.
It is a pleasure to see the efforts of all members to share information and I hope to be able to have some input as well.
I have yet to master silver soldering and am now practising regularly.
My current project is titled "An unusual steam engine" as published in Live steam magazine in 1980.
I have also commenced another project a 1 1/8" oscillating cylinder engine also from Live steam Magazine 1980
I have a Hercus ATM 260m lathe ( Australian made) and a post war Drill press badly in need of refurbishment or a new home.
Cheers

I know I speak for at least myself when I say :worthless:
We feed on pictures here, and we've woken up hungry

Seems a good way to get the message across with ample pictures.

Hi Phil,
Welcome to the collective. :borg:
As Tim said we like pictures. So when you get a chance post some up in The Gallery section of the forum.
Silver soldering is a knack. Once you have it it will be easy. I learned to solder at a very young age. Soft soldering is were I started. Silver soldering takes a bit more heat but generally the same technique is used. And remember "clean" joints are a must. Keep practicing. You'll get it perfect after a while.
I started to build Jan's V-4 wobbler. Never got very far. Still plan on building it. But I'll need to convert over to imperial sizes for the parts.

Welcome to MadModder Phil. You have already been made aware of the need for pictures so I guess I will have to alert you to :proj:. It seems that everybody catches it and the only known cure is to build something.
Cheers

I am still trying to figure out silver soldering. Don't worry about.
Welcome to the collective :borg:
