Title: A one way ticket for the Darwin Award
Post by: Bernd on September 08, 2011, 07:02:49 PM
I can't believe somebody would do a video and post this.  :bugeye:  :loco:

From the web site of Hack A Day. Maybe that's why there is a scull and cross bones pic on the site.

Ok, so I reposted. But realy.  :palm:

I hope nobody ever atempts this. IT'S DANGEROUS AND WILL CAUSE DEATH BY STEAM.

Were's Bog's when you need him?

The heat off the catcher would be enough to kill the grass.
I think if you mowed your lawn with that, the fire brigade would be on site pretty quick from the neighbors thinking you where a terrorist.

That is about the most dangerous thing I have seen in a long long time, from so many aspects.

This is a good post of "what never to build".

Boiling Propane is far more efficient than steam...  I can see him re-entering the gene pool from a great height.

He's not boiling propane, just using a propane cylinder as a boiler. :coffee:

A propane cylinder will hold quite a bit of pressure, if you get it purged correctly before using it.  Someone will get the purged tank mixed up with the real tank of course, human nature.

The sad thing is that there are some people who will see that video and go out in their back yard and start heating their real propane tank, which will of course explode and leave a very large crater about the size of a house.

A very poor choice for a boiler.
If you drill into a proane tank without purging it completely, it will explode, even if it is empty.
