I wondered about that as well.

Is 'arbor' the USA spelling I wonder, as in harbor (harbour in UK)?

The correct spelling is "long spindly thing, usually bent in the middle"

I was always taught to use arbor, but I don't think it matters that much, as long as we know what you mean.

But it can sometimes cause a search engine to be confused, and you don't get as many hits, so it might be better to put both  in the box, a belts and braces thing.

Should be arbor .. unless you've got a wooden one  :D

Edit. ....forgot. Unless it's wet, and there's crabs in it ... in which case .... it's a Narbor

Seems Oxford says it's Arbor...

arbor1

  • noun 1 an axle on which something revolves. 2 a device holding a tool in a lathe.

Thanks....I wouldn't want to make the mistake of putting an Arbour in my lathe....thankfully I can now avoid that.....
