Post by: jim on September 10, 2009, 09:20:49 AM
as always happens, doing a rush job, nothing to taxing

everything going well, easy job, and then

busted me feed gear :(
hit the stop while feeding, the lathe didn't even slow down, all i heard was the motor suddenly go under load

best of its i only stripped it all down at the weekend!!! :bang: :bang:

guess i'll be relaxing and catching up on some reading till postie turns up!!!

about £10, from TMTT, had a couple of lathes and me mill off him.

i did think i'd broke it properly, the handwheel just locked solid as the busted teeth wedged in the gear

i wasn't laughing at the time :( :(

I have had motors pack up 1/4 in to a job, switches, power feeds, vices, ACME threads strip and you cannot remove the precision job until finished.
