Every time I see your work I feel the need for a sandblaster myself.

have you already tried out your special traveling rest design? I could imagine that the wear surfaces top an back wear unequal and that it might be time consuming to bring them back to spec. In this case maybe carbide wear surfaces could be used. It would be nice it you report on the practical use of this design because it is just so nice.

Right now I have no project where I can use the traveling rest.
If the wear surfaces wear it's no problem to heat them up and replace them - they are just glued with LocTite.
I don't hink carbide would be a good idea ... isn't that way too hard - I beleave it will scare the work piese - right

My idea was that the forces on top and back wear surfaces will not always be equal. So one surface might wear faster. Then the combined top and back guide will not support eqqualy well until it is set right again. I have not experience using rests so I can't tell. By the way I just made a fixed and a (conventional) traveling rest and am looking forward for the first projects with them.

A nice presentation, the addition of your little video's greatly improves the practical features during the project construction. The finished steady looks very well finished. Let us know how it performs when you come to use it.
