I could not let it go back
It would be like giving a child a new toy then taking it away :bugeye: :bugeye: :jaw: :jaw: :jaw:

Hi John , looks nice and will keep everything in one place but also mobile.................... I am sure you could find something else to fit on the lower section if the Plasma goes back :bugeye: :bugeye: :bugeye: :bugeye:
Cheers Mick.

Hi John
I do like to see a spark of enthusiasm, quick of the mark with the kart, the units look smart and tidy. I think you are going to really enjoy that pair. I expect you have already got a new project in mind.
Good Luck Cheers David

Just needs another bar across the front and the Plasma Cutter CAN'T go back

Talking of plasma cutters I needed to cut a piece of what i thought was 12mm steel for a motor mounting conversion.
I have a Cebora 440v 40 A unit that is supposed to be good for 19mm. Problem is it's a pain in the rectum to get out, connect up and you get more heat off the gimbal on the electric meter than the torch.
I also have one of these cheap Cut40 plasma cutters which is supposed to cut 6mm.
Soooooooooooo if it cuts 6mm it will cut 12mm if you cut from both sides.
Dead quick to setup, support the plate on the council dustbin because when they catch fire you just get a new one. Only got to cut a plate 200 x 230 mm.
Cut from one side, turn over and repeat but it didn't fall free so quick smack with the BFH and it was on the deck.
Cleaning up I measured it and it wasn't 12mm it was 15mm so dead impressed that this little inverter jobby produced the goods.

It would be a real shame to separate them
Need some cable hooks and a handle now

Nice John, but it still needs a strap welding on to stop that Plasma cutter drifting back to R-Tech
Andrew

I was thinking about welding on to stop any movement at all :jaw: :jaw:

Another fine job John.

Well done. You have to paint it in R-tech blue :D
-
It's a good thing your wife's there to weld it for you ! :headbang: :headbang:

Hi there, John,
How did you bend up the flanges on your two platforms?
-
I* cheated and got a mate with a 40 ton press brake to bend them for me
It could be done with angle iron and a hammer
John
-
Hi there, John,
I wondered how you got such a clean bend in such a thick gauge of steel.
If I were to attempt a bend like that with angle iron and a hammer, the finished job would have a lot of half-crowns all over it!
:offtopic: Back in 1970, my wife and I moved into a new house. There was a lot to do, including building a garage and workshop and a friend gave me a builder's wheelbarrow. It was a bit ancient and the body was disintegrating. The firm I worked for then had a scheme where employees could buy material through the company stores at friendly prices so I asked for a quote for a suitably sized sheet of 18 SWG mild steel. The price quoted was SO FRIENDLY that I got over-enthusiastic and said 'in that case, I'll have it in 16 SWG.'.
I took it home and marked it out and cut it to shape with a Monodex hand-shear. When my hand, between my thumb and index finger, had healed (that's the one problem with the Monodex!!) I tried to bend it to shape.
I found that 16 SWG takes a lot more bending than 18 SWG! :bang: :bang: :bang:
In the end, we took it out to the road in front of the house and set it on the ground so the fold lines, one after another, were over the edge of the kerb. My wife stood on the footpath side of the bend line while I jumped on the other side (over the gutter). That started the folds where we wanted them after which we completed the folds and got the seams to close with a hammer and block.
We did eventually get it to a usable barrow shape but there was no other barrow quite like it!

John, I was wondering - will you be using the plasma torch as igniter for the kart's turbine/afterburner?!? :zap:
