Title: Hello from Leicester-
Post by: srm_92000 on March 06, 2011, 11:09:39 AM
Hello all,
I've been lurking over on the 7x12 mini lathe-site for some time and have owned my lathe since 2001.
Mostly I've been using it to fix things and make odd bits and pieces for my car etc but recently got a 10v kit as a gift and found this site just as I finished it.

I've been reading some of the build logs after finding for a few weeks.
Thanks for all the great info.
I've now been inspired to start an IC engine as my second real project, probably something like the Webster.
Here it is so far. :D

Thanks for all your responses,
it's nice to know I'm talking to real people.
Around here everyone seems to think I'm the only person in the world who spends all his time making stuff and I should sit and watch soaps like "normal" people :loco:
I've got a bit of thinking and drawing to do before I start my Webster-ish build as I'm going to be changing a few things! I know I know, but I'll just be doing some metric conversion and adjustments for the material I have.
I would like to move the cam to get the points to run from it and fire just once per cycle, and I think I'll go with a 1inch bore and use the bigger size of Viton 'o' ring that seems easily available. Comments on compression ratio anyone?
Until then I'm just going to post some pics of my shop in that section so you can see what I have to work with. :bang:
cheers
Steve.
