Title: My dads Rolls Royce
Post by: sbwhart on March 01, 2009, 03:13:14 PM
When my Dad retired some 20 years ago he declared he was not going to make anything in metal any more :-

he was going to make things from wood, this is one of the things he made.

He raffled it off for charity raised over £2000 last I heard it was in a jewlers shop.

Thanks for you kind comments chaps I,ll tell my Dad it will cheer him up.

Peter

Unfortunately that's the only photo we have, he made quite a lot of toys for my son and daughter, ride on fork lift, dolls house etc, and when his eyes started to fail a he went onto garden furniture, including a barrel, he tried his hardest to make one that would hold water, but never quite got their. The Rolls was his master piece, its sad that he raffled it, my Mother had a bad heart, and the proceeds went to the British Heart Foundation I think it was his way of doing his bit.

His health is not to good now he's 83 and frail, so he doesn't make anything know, I know he finds this very frustrating, he's held on to a lot of his tools and some times he'll go and stand in his shop just looking around: I'm sure he's going through the process in his head.

Cheers
