Title: New engine to build
Post by: Bernd on July 25, 2009, 07:53:22 PM
All right here's the next engine for you guys to build. I'm afraid it'll leave Bogs out on this one.

Try to bling this up.

Have fun.

Hey, it runs on breath power.  Pretty decent work, even is it is wood.

Rather cruel methinks, but if I had the plans I could surely make it out of acrylic.

Now there's a material that would make an interesting whole engine. Kind of like the see through engine kit's you can buy today.

Bogs, with your expertise I think just from looking at the parts they showed you'd be able to build one. A couple of C-o-C drawings and you'd be on your way.

Guess all we can do with this one is to bring out the cherry, walnut, mahogany and any other fancy wood we can find. :ddb: :ddb:

Thanks for the link Bernd. I spent a couple of hours there reading and checking out all some of his stuff. Definitly interesting.

cheers

Sure would make for a pretty engine with all those different woods used.

I was nearly sick when I saw that!

Only kidding, it's quite nice actually, I once started making a wooden beam engine, got as far as the column and beam, then something split and I gave up! If I'd used decent wood and a bit more patience it could have worked, it was so much quicker to work with the wood!

In Elmer's Engine book he has two beam engines that use wood for a majority of the build.

They'd be fun to build, but I've got enough projects for now.  :coffee:

I think I have seen those. I was looking though a folder of plans a member sent me on here the other night and the french beam engine really caught my eye, really nice design but I've got a bad case of  :proj: . I really need a plan of action, keep getting distracted, people keep showing off designs that you just think I really fancy having a go at that!

Ya, I know what you mean. I have the same problem. Maybe a few  :hammer: on the head will straighten me out. Naw, I don't think so.
