just received my X2 mill today so sunday is funday lol

Shoey...
First lesson....  give it a good tramming so it cuts square and evenly. It's a bit of work, but it's the first step in getting satisfaction.  Very capable little machines, when you get them set up properly. Mine gave me a lot of good service as long as I kept in mind it had its own limitations.

Graham,

Nice compact setup. Your new life begins here, today.

As has been suggested, spend the first few hours setting the machine up to the very best of your capabilities. Only by doing that will it give you it's best. David (Stilldrillin') has just been thru all that, maybe he can give you some pointers on what to look out for.

The next major bit is to learn and fully understand the difference between climb milling and standard milling. While you are learning, I would suggest you treat climb milling like the plague, and stay away from it unless absolutely necessary.

If you have a look at these sites, they do help in understanding the basics, then come back with any questions you are not sure about.

Nicely put John,

Graham & Jilly visited "Stilldrillin Towers" last year, when they were in the UK. We are in regular Mamodforum & pm contact.  :thumbup:

Graham`s present "predicament" is mostly my fault........ He he heheheh........  :D



Re climb milling..........

Many mill operators do not really understand the term.

If the cutter can take hold of the workpiece, like a rack & pinion...... DON`T DO IT!!!!!!

Attack the piece from the other direction........

David it is a happy predicament that im in mate and I am always greatful for you input.
