Helen bought a new paint roller last weekend, the type you fill the centre with paint and off you go. Supposed to be less messy and quicker to use.
Well it would be except it broke within 5min of using it :bang:
The alloy handle has a plastic fitting on the end that screws into the roller head. This fitting is hollow and there is barely any material for strength.
So being about time I did a "favour" I decided to make a new fitting in alloy.
Turning one end to a tight fit in the tube handle ..

Set the lathe to cut a 5mm pitch thread ... which happens to be a square type so used a parting tool.

Unfortunately I boobed, I'd set the lathe to 5.5mm pitch and took a couple of passes before checking
Re-set the lathe pitch and carried on, though messy it'll do the job .... (can't you tell it's not for me )
All done, the handle was punched to grip the tight tube .... job done ...

Something strange about this story, how come 'er indoors has agreed to take dominion over the paint roller?
