Title: Logical thinking
Post by: bogstandard on August 07, 2009, 03:45:04 AM
So you think you are in total control, and cannot be confused easily. This will prove that you are not all that perfect.

This only takes a couple of seconds and you can do it whilst reading this.

1. While sitting at your desk in front of your computer, lift your right foot off the floor and make clockwise circles.

2. Now, while doing this, draw the number '6' in the air with your right hand. Your foot will change direction.

So are you in total control, and have you got a confused mind?

Control?  Nope.  I am incapable of talking and writing at the same time.  If I attempt to, I write what I'm saying or say what I am writing.  I am, however able to walk and chew gum, mostly.

John

You're right John, if you draw the 6 the way most people would, starting at the top and going in a counterclockwise direction finishing by closing the loop at the bottom.  :smart:

However, if you start at the closing point of the loop and go in a clockwise direction ending up at the top it now works for me. Other peoples milage may vary!

Cheers

Don,

I suppose you can train the mind and body to do anything that doesn't come naturally, but instinctive control in this case, means that the mind expects everything to go in the same direction, and so does it automatically without having to think about it.

It just goes to prove that we haven't got as much control as we think we have.

At least, trying it out kept you entertained for a few minutes, and maybe a little smile as well.

Not me.  Gum sticks to my denture & I lose track of where I was going while trying to get my teeth working again.

Anyone loose track of thier tongue? I have to be careful when eating, as I have been distracted and bit my tongue or the inside of my cheek.

Knew one fellow who, when pitching horseshoes, would involuntarily extend his tongue to it's limits during the delivery of the horseshoe.

Only about once a week.  :bang:
