Post by: ironman on June 15, 2012, 03:22:59 AM
I just thought everyone would like to see my latest bronze casting efforts. Here are two  videos of making the  mold and casting bronze

The house number was for a friend of mine.

Very nice casting

And making your own alloy, very impressive.

What size an type of crucible did you use?

Was that an oil bonded sand or just green sand?

Hello awemawson My sand is just ordinary green sand. Have you still got the induction furnace?

Hello JonIndigoman The crucible is an A12 clay graphite type.

I still have the induction furnace, and now I even have a big enough 3 phase supply (160 amps per phase 415v) to run it off rather than use my generator, but I'm ashamed to say I've not recommissioned it since I moved here 4 years ago. Been building workshops etc, and now we've embarked on a complete house re-model! I have however built a non-inflamable annex to the main workshop specifically to house it.
